Robert De Niro acts opposite himself in new 'The Alto Knights' trailer

Robert De Niro acts opposite himself in new 'The Alto Knights' trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures

There's double the Robert De Niro in the new trailer for The Alto Knights.

The Oscar winner plays two roles — Vito Genovese and Frank Costello — in the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures film. It arrives in theaters on March 21.

Helmed by Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson, the film follows two of New York City's most notorious organized crime bosses "as they vie for control of the city’s streets. Once the best of friends, petty jealousies and a series of betrayals place them on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia (and America) forever," according to the film's official logline.

"Where do I start?" De Niro's Frank Costello asks in the trailer. "You're going down a very dangerous road."

"And we ain't been down dangerous roads before? That's the risk you take. Me, I take that risk," the Vito Genovese De Niro responds.

The film was inspired by the true story of the mob boss who brought about the downfall of the American mafia, according to the trailer. It was written by Goodfellas screenwriter and Oscar nominee Nicholas Pileggi, and produced by Oscar winner Irwin Winkler, who also produced Rocky and Goodfellas.

Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, Katherine Narducci, Michael Rispoli, Michael Adler, Ed Amatrudo, Joe Bacino, Anthony J. Gallo, Wallace Langham, Louis Mustillo, Frank Piccirillo, Matt Serviet and Robert Uricola also star.

Jimmy Kimmel shares emotional monologue on LA fires: 'It's been terrible'

Jimmy Kimmel shares emotional monologue on LA fires: 'It's been terrible'

ABC

Jimmy Kimmel delivered an emotional monologue during the Jan. 13 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! about the "nightmare" situation of the Southern California fires.

"As you know, it has been a very scary, very stressful, very strange week here in LA, where we work, where we live, where our kids go to school," Kimmel said, getting choked up. "We are back at our studio, which we had to evacuate on Wednesday."

Video footage then showed a fire close to the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, where the talk show is filmed.

"Many of us had to leave our homes in a hurry. Some of our co-workers lost their homes," Kimmel said. "It's been terrible. It's been terrible. Everyone who lives in the city knows someone, most of us multiple people — families, friends, colleagues, neighbors — whose houses burned down. And the truth is, we don't even know if it's over."

Kimmel continued, "I think I speak for all of us when I say it has been a sickening, shocking, awful experience. But it has also been, in a lot of ways, a beautiful experience, because once again, we see our fellow men and women coming together to support each other. People who lost their own homes were out volunteering in parking lots helping others who lost theirs."

The host then went on to thank all of the LA firefighters who were "the first on the scene."

"Without hesitation, they were out there putting out the fires as best they could," he said, also shouting out firefighters from other states — and countries — for lending a helping hand in the face of the tragedy.

"To our police, our National Guard, our rescue workers, the doctors, the nurses, EMTs, the pilots working 12-hour shifts, thank God for all of you," Kimmel added. "I also want to thank our local news reporters who reminded us how important local television and radio and newspapers are."

Kimmel was also critical of some remarks President-elect Donald Trump has made in the wake of the fires, saying he had spread "vile and irresponsible and stupid things ... during our darkest and most terrifying hour."

The Southern California fires began on Jan. 7 and have ravaged thousands of acres throughout the Los Angeles area.

At least 24 people have died, more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for and tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate amid multiple wildfires, which have been fueled by severe drought conditions and strong winds.

Lisa Kudrow on 'Romy & Michele's High School Reunion' sequel: 'Close as we’ve ever been'

Lisa Kudrow on 'Romy & Michele's High School Reunion' sequel: 'Close as we’ve ever been'

Touchstone/Getty Images

Lisa Kudrow has an update on the upcoming Romy & Michele's High School Reunion sequel.

While guesting on a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Kudrow talked about how the project is coming along.

"We’re as close as we’ve ever been,” Kudrow said. “There’s a script that’s really good, [by] Robin Schiff.”

Barrymore, a big fan of the original film, told Kudrow, “Oh my God, I just got chills. I really did."

“So it’ll happen, I mean, we’ll see,” Kudrow said in response.

Kudrow played Michele Weinberger in the 1997 comedy film, starring opposite Mia Sorvino's Romy White. Elsewhere in the interview, Barrymore said the movie is "so much more than a film" to her.

“It’s a world and I tend to live in it on a daily basis and I certainly quote it every day of my life," Barrymore said.

Kudrow went on to explain that the film originally came from an "equity waiver play in LA" written by Schiff, who wrote the original film.

“So they had to do a backers audition for the play to see if they could even mount the play,” Kudrow said. “And they went to all the [acting] teachers, 'Who do you recommend to audition?' So, you know, I went.”

She said that was her first-ever audition.

"For 'Airhead No. 2,' Michele," Kudrow said. "We were these minor characters. We were onstage a total of seven minutes, in and out, for the whole play.”

Halle Berry donates 'entire closet' to LA wildfire victims

Halle Berry is supporting those affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

Berry announced on Instagram on Jan. 9 that she was donating her entire wardrobe to those in need.

The Oscar winner is collaborating with fellow actress Sharon Stone and +COOP, a home goods store in Beverly Hills, to promote donation efforts, collecting gently used clothing for men, women and children displaced by the fires.

+COOP was founded by real estate agent Jenna Cooper and turned its shop into a temporary fire relief donation collection center amid the deadly wildfires.

"I'm packing up my entire closet and heading over to the COOP! If you live in the Southern California area, I urge you to do the same," Berry wrote in the caption. "This is something we can do right now today to help all of the displaced families that are in need of the basics today!"

She added, "Thank you @sharonstone for your leadership. Love you Lady."

The post included a video clip originally shared on Stone's Instagram account, in which Stone is heard promoting the donation effort.

"We're at the COOP at 7282 Beverly Blvd., collecting gently used clothing for kids, men, women, children, people that have been displaced and affected by the fire," she says. "We have beautiful cashmere sweaters, jeans, new socks, shoes, clothes, blankets ... you can come and shop, you can also come and donate."

The LA wildfires have caused significant destruction, resulting in thousands of residents being displaced.

At least 24 people have died and more than a dozen others remain unaccounted for. Firefighters continue to battle the flames, which remain only partially contained, and have been fueled by severe drought conditions and strong winds.

Brooke Shields shares message she wants women to take from her new memoir

Brooke Shields shares message she wants women to take from her new memoir

Macmillan Publishers

Brooke Shields is sharing the message she hopes readers take away from her new memoir, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the actress and model said the book's message for women is "that this period of their time over 40 is a wonderful time, and it's all about you."

"You've earned it, and it's your turn to feel really, really supported by yourself and good about yourself," she added.

Shields said the biggest misconception about aging as a woman, in her opinion, is that "we've had a good run" and that they're "sort of put out to pasture."

"Every single woman I know who's over 40 is absolutely fabulous," she said. "They are doing new things and they're empowered in a way that they weren't ever before."

Shields also detailed what she has planned for her milestone 60th birthday in May, revealing it might be more low-key than many would expect.

"I'm most looking forward to being able to be in this age with my girls, watching them sort of really come into their own lives," she said of daughters Rowan and Grier.

Shields said her birthday plans are more likely to include "spending time with my girlfriends" and doing activities like going to the spa or other fun activities "rather than have a big party."

Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman is out Jan. 14.

The devastating wildfires still raging in the Los Angeles area have brought about several new changes and updates to the 2025 awards season.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced more updates to its 97th annual Oscars season on Monday, including an extension to its voting period and shifting the date of the Oscars nominations announcement.

The Oscars nominations voting period has been extended through Jan. 17 at 5 p.m. PT, while the nominations announcement will now take place on Jan. 23 at 5:30 a.m. PT. The Academy also canceled its Oscars Nominees Luncheon, which was previously scheduled for Feb. 10.

The Scientific and Technical Awards, which were originally set for Feb. 18, will be rescheduled for an unspecified, later date.

The 97th Oscars ceremony is still scheduled for March 2 as originally planned.

“We are all devastated by the impact of the fires and the profound losses experienced by so many in our community. The Academy has always been a unifying force within the film industry, and we are committed to standing together in the face of hardship," Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement. "Due to the still-active fires in the Los Angeles area, we feel it is necessary to extend our voting period and move the date of our nominations announcement to allow additional time for our members."

Additionally, The Recording Academy has announced that the 2025 Grammys will still take place on Feb. 2.

The live telecast of the awards ceremony, which will take place in LA, will raise funds to support wildfire relief efforts for the city.

"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. This city is our home, and we mourn the loss of life and destruction that have come to it in recent days," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and Board of Trustees Chair Tammy Hurt said in a letter to Recording Academy members. "In challenging times, music has the power to heal, comfort, and unite like nothing else. The GRAMMYs will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles."

Ryan Dorsey is remembering his late ex-wife, Naya Rivera, on her birthday, over four years after her death at age 33.

The Big Sky actor took to Instagram on Sunday to share a poem he wrote to Rivera, who died in an accidental drowning while swimming in Lake Piru in Southern California in July 2020.

"Happy Heavenly Birthday," Dorsey began his post. "5 birthdays since you've been gone. Thoughts everyday about how it went wrong. The memories attached to places, Still see all the things, see all our faces."

"Visions of happiness and sadness, 15 years flash by when I hear a certain song. I shake my head often still in disbelief, They say time heals all, but all is not grief," Dorsey continued.

Next, Dorsey shared his commitment to the pair's son, 9-year-old Josey Hollis Dorsey.

"Doing the best I can for our JoJo Binx, As the time goes by, Im often alone and sit and think. I think more of our better times, Like this picture from the past, but it still f****** stings," he wrote.

Dorsey concluded his tribute, "So give Emmy and Lucy one good rub, And if you're reading this, Be kind to the one's you love, You'll never know when you give your last hug."

Dorsey and Rivera were married for four years before divorcing in 2018.

At the time of her death, the Glee actress was alone on a boat with her son, who was then 4 years old. Josey told authorities that he and his mother went for a swim and that afterward, he got back in the boat, but his mother did not.

Meghan Markle's 'With Love, Meghan' release date delayed due to wildfires

Meghan Markle's 'With Love, Meghan' release date delayed due to wildfires

Courtesy of Netflix

The release date for Meghan Markle's new lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, has been pushed back due to the wildfires in Southern California.

On Sunday, Netflix announced it was moving the lifestyle show's original Jan. 15 release date to a new date of March 4.

The delay was made "at the request" of the Duchess of Sussex, according to the announcement, and supported by the streamer "due to the ongoing devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires."

"I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California," read a statement from Markle.

Netflix released a trailer for the upcoming show in January. It featured Markle baking in the kitchen, designing flower arrangements at home and sharing moments with famous friends including Mindy Kaling and Roy Choi

The new show "blends practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old," the release states.

In each episode of the series, "we join Meghan in the kitchen, garden — and even at the beehive — as she prepares to host friends both old and new," according to the release.

"Whether Meghan is sharing personal tips and tricks, or taking the opportunity to learn something new, it’s a time for connection," it says of the show, which is produced by the Duchess of Sussex.

The Los Angeles County wildfires have burned through tens of thousands of acres, leveling homes, businesses and landmarks.

Several awards season events — including the 2025 Oscar nominations and multiple LA-based television shows — have been affected by the fires, which have left at least 16 people dead and many more injured as of Sunday.

'Wheel of Fortune' contestant gets surprise on-set proposal

Wheel of Fortune/YouTube

Cue the wedding bells!

A Wheel of Fortune contestant received the surprise of her life when her boyfriend popped the question on the set of the hit game show.

Rhea Susan Mathew returned to play Wheel of Fortune under the assumption that she was there to celebrate the longtime show's 50th anniversary, as co-host Vanna White explained in a behind-the-scenes YouTube video.

In the video, Mathew solves a phrase puzzle with the correct answer of "Will you marry me?" before the show's set opens up and her boyfriend, Robin Kuriakose, steps out.

When Mathew starts connecting the dots, her eyes grow wide and her jaw falls open before she approaches her boyfriend and he gets down on one knee.

"Rhea Susan Mathew, will your marry me?" he asks as he holds out an engagement ring.

Mathew, with her hands over her mouth in shock, nods yes before the couple share a kiss.

In a behind-the-scenes Instagram video post, Mathew told Wheel of Fortune social correspondent Maggie Sajak she had no idea her now-fiancé, whom she described as "one of her biggest supporters," would propose on set.

"I"m still in shock," she said.

Kuriakose added, "I'm so happy that she got this moment, so thank you guys all for accommodating us and making it happen."

Alec Baldwin suing officials who charged him with manslaughter in 'Rust' shooting

Alec Baldwin suing officials who charged him with manslaughter in 'Rust' shooting

Ross D. Franklin - Pool/Getty Images

Alec Baldwin is suing the New Mexico officials who charged him with manslaughter over the death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, charges that were later thrown out.

Baldwin's attorneys Luke Nikos and Alex Spiro said in a statement, “Criminal prosecutions are supposed to be about the search for truth and justice, not to pursue personal or political gain or harass the innocent. Kari Morrissey and the other defendants violated that basic principle, over and over, and trampled on Alec Baldwin’s rights. We bring this action to hold the defendants accountable for their misconduct and to prevent them from doing this to anyone else.”

In response special prosecutor Kari Morrisey said, "In October 2023 the prosecution team became aware that Mr. Baldwin intended to file a retaliatory civil lawsuit. We look forward to our day in court."

In October 2024, a New Mexico judge declined to reconsider criminal charges against Baldwin over the 2021 fatal shooting on the set of Rust.

Manslaughter charges against Baldwin were thrown out in July after it was learned during trial that prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense, namely ammunition brought to the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on Oct. 21, 2021, when she was shot by Baldwin while he was practicing using a Colt .45 revolver. The prop gun, which Baldwin believed to contain dummy rounds, actually had a live round of ammunition in it. Director Joel Souza was also struck in the shooting, but recovered from his injuries.

Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with Hutchins' death in March. Prosecutors argued during the trial she was the source of the live bullet and had failed to follow safety protocols meant to protect the crew while handling the firearms.

David Schwimmer on the fun frights in 'Goosebumps: The Vanishing'

David Schwimmer on the fun frights in 'Goosebumps: The Vanishing'

Disney/Francisco Roman

Get ready for more ghostly haunts with Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

The new season of the anthology series arrives on Disney+ and Hulu on Friday. David Schwimmer stars as Anthony Brewer, a recently divorced botanist whose twin children come to live with him just as dark secrets reveal a spooky mystery.

Schwimmer told ABC Audio it was incredibly fun to join such an iconic franchise.

"I didn't realize just how loved this series is because I was 25 when it came out, so I didn't grow up with the books," Schwimmer said. "Of course, I had heard of Goosebumps and I saw the first [TV] series ... but I just didn't know how many people love the series and are looking forward to it."

He found acting in a project full of "fun frights" to be really enjoyable and said that, luckily, he doesn't scare easily.

"I really love going to scary movies and especially seeing them in a movie theater. Although, I think this series, if you turn off the lights at home and watch it, or, you know, stream it on whatever device ... I think it'll be equally satisfying and equally scary," Schwimmer said. "You can always pause it if you need to shake it off, you know what I mean? I'm guilty of doing that on occasion, watching a scary movie at home."

Even though he says he's been known to pause a scary movie and "just take five" minutes to collect himself before starting it back up, Schwimmer says he'll always finish watching it.

"I do like a good scare," he said.

All eight episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing will be available to watch on Disney+ and Hulu on Jan. 10.

Jean Smart calls on networks to donate to fire relief instead of airing awards shows

Jake Giles Netter/Max

Hacks star Jean Smart is calling on TV networks to reconsider airing any upcoming awards shows in light of the Los Angeles wildfires.

“ATTENTION!” Smart wrote in an Instagram post. “With ALL due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to the victims of the fires and the firefighters.”

The Critics Choice Awards have already been postponed from Jan. 12 to Jan. 26 due to the fires, while Oscar nominations have been delayed from Jan. 17 to Jan. 19.

Numerous Hollywood productions have been halted – including Smart’s TV show Hacks – as multiple fires continue to burn in the Los Angeles area. Thousands have been forced to evacuate and at least five people have died.

Jamie Lee Curtis donates $1 million for LA wildfire relief

Todd Owyoung/NBC

Jamie Lee Curtis has pledged $1 million to help those affected by the wildfires raging in Southern California.

Curtis appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, where she spoke about the ongoing devastating fires affecting the Los Angeles area.

“As you know, where I live is on fire right now. The entire city of Pacific Palisades is burning. I flew here last night, I was on the plane, started getting texts and it’s f****** gnarly, you guys. It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California,” Curtis said. “Everything: the market I shop in, the schools my kids go to. Many, many, many friends now have lost their homes. So it’s a really awful situation.”

On Thursday, Curtis took to Instagram to share that she and her husband, Christopher Guest, are donating $1 million to the relief efforts in the city.

"As the fire still rages on and @calfire @losangelesfiredepartment and all the available first responders and agencies involved in fighting fire and saving lives are still hard at work and neighbors and friends are banding together to save each other, my husband and I and our children have pledged $1 million from our Family Foundation to start a fund of support for our great city and state and the great people who live and love there," Curtis wrote.

She said she's been in contact "with Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass and Senator Schiff as to where those funds need to be directed for the most impact."

During her appearance on Fallon on Wednesday, Curtis said she planned to fly back to LA Thursday morning to help her family and friends in the city. She then urged viewers to do anything they can to help the situation.

"Do anything you can. Anything in your community to help people," Curtis said. "Give blood, donate, whatever you can do, animal shelters.”
