ABC/Randy HolmesNothing But Thieves has released a new version of their song “Broken Machine,” featuring accompaniment from an orchestra. You can watch the British band perform the string-laden rendition of the track now on YouTube.
The “Broken Machine” performance was recorded for World Mental Health Day, held today, October 10. Early Tuesday morning, Nothing But Thieves played an acoustic set atop of London’s BT Tower in commemoration of World Mental Health Day.
In an essay published in The Independent, frontman Conor Mason opens up about his own struggles with mental health.
“On my tours for the first Nothing But Thieves album I suffered with mental health issues and I completely crumbled,” he writes. “After pushing through for a year and self medicating, everything got to breaking point and I nearly quit the band…so I sought professional help.”
“Broken Machine” is the title track from Nothing But Thieves’ sophomore album. The band kicks off a North American tour in support of Broken Machine Wednesday, October 11 in Santa Ana, California.
