Compared to the metal of Sevendust, “Love Song” takes Witherspoon in a more mellow direction. Describing the track, Witherspoon says “Love Song” “resonates with what’s going on in the world today.”

Witherspoon previously released a solo song titled “Ready to Go” in 2010, and he’s guested on a variety of tracks throughout the years. In the past few years, he’s expressed interest in pursuing a solo project — in 2013, Witherspoon told ABC Radio that he wanted to record a solo album.

Meanwhile, Sevendust is planning to hit the studio in November to begin recording the follow-up album to 2015’s Kill the Flaw, which features the Grammy-nominated single “Thank You.” The new album is expected to arrive in spring 2018.
