Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “Walk on Water” receives sales boost following VMAs performance

ABC/Randy HolmesThirty Seconds to Mars‘ new single “Walk on Water” earned a big boost in sales following its live debut Sunday during the MTV Video Music Awards. According to Nielsen music, digital songs sales for the track increased by 83 per cent.

For their VMA performance, Jared Leto and company used thermal imaging technology to give the viewers at home a unique, neon-colored viewing experience. Rapper Travis Scott also made a cameo.

Also during the VMAs, Leto gave a speech in honor of the late Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington.

“Walk on Water” is the first single from Thirty Seconds to Mars’ forthcoming fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2013’s Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams.
