Coldplay postpones Houston show due to Hurricane Harvey

Image Group LA/ABCColdplay‘s show tonight in Houston, Texas has been postponed due to Hurricane Harvey, the band has announced.

“We really wanted to play tonight, but sitting here all together watching the news about the storm we feel that we can’t ask anyone to put their safety at risk,” the British rockers write. “So, sadly, we will have to postpone.”

“We are really sorry for the inconveniences this will cause,” the band adds. “Stay safe and see you soon.”

Details regarding refunds and a rescheduled date are forthcoming.

As of early Friday afternoon, Hurricane Harvey was a category two storm with maximum sustained winds of 110 MPH. It’s expected to strengthen to a category three storm, with maximum sustained winds of 129 MPH, by the time it makes landfall before midnight tonight around Corpus Christi, TX, about 200 miles southwest of Houston.

Coldplay has been touring the U.S. in support of their latest album, A Head Full of Dreams. The outing is expected to continue August 28 in Miami.
