The Killers share “Wonderful Wonderful” title track; deem young rock “just not good enough”

ABC/Randy HolmesThe Killers have premiered the title track from their forthcoming album, Wonderful Wonderful. The song is now available on digital platforms.

Wonderful Wonderful is the fifth full-length studio effort on The Killers’ career, which began with a meteoric rise in the early 2000s thanks to the single “Mr. Brightside” and the album Hot Fuss. In a new interview, frontman Brandon Flowers has a simple answer for why young rock bands haven’t been able to match that kind of success nowadays.

“It could happen — but there hasn’t been anybody good enough,” Flowers tells Noisey. “If there was a band like The Strokes, or Interpol, people would talk. If there were some kids out there right now playing [Interpol’s] “Obstacle 1″ tonight, I would hear about it, you would hear about it. But there isn’t.”

Drummer Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. agrees, adding, “People are very quick to blame a changing of the times for a lot of things, when it’s really that they’re just not good enough yet.”

Wonderful Wonderful will be released September 22.
