BMGBilly Corgan has finally revealed the details of his long-teased Rick Rubin-produced new album. The sophomore solo effort from the Smashing Pumpkins frontman — who’s going by William Patrick Corgan nowadays — is titled Ogilala, and it’ll be released October 13.
Your first preview of Ogilala comes in the form of the piano ballad “Aeronaut,” which you can download now digitally.
“For as long as I can remember the delineation point between songs I wrote for myself and songs I’d pen for whatever band was something I couldn’t explain,” says Corgan in a statement. “And it remains so, for they all feel quite personal to me, no matter their time or era. The lone difference on songs for Ogilala is that they seemed to want little in the way of adornment.”
Corgan will kick off a North American tour in support of Ogilala October 14 in Brooklyn, New York. The trek concludes with a three-night stand in Los Angeles November 9-11. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, August 25 at 10 a.m. local time via Ogilala.com.
Ogilala is Corgan’s solo follow-up to 2005’s TheFutureEmbrace.
