Chester Bennington fan memorial planned at former Cincinnati tour stop

ABC/Randy HolmesLinkin Park fans will hold a memorial for Chester Bennington at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 12, the same day the band was scheduled to play the venue on their now-canceled North American tour.

“Linkin Park created a sense of community among its fans, and we want to open our arms to you, whether you were a fan or not,”organizers write on the event’s Facebook page. “Help us remember an amazing humanitarian and spread awareness for a cause so many of us struggle with. Come join our family.”

The memorial also aims to help raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.

To cover the costs of the event, organizers have set up a GoFundMe account. Any extra funds raised beyond what’s needed will be donated to the Linkin Park-founded charity Music for Relief.

Linkin Park was scheduled to kick off a North American headlining tour in support of their new album One More Light last Thursday, July 27 in Boston. Bennington died by suicide on July 20, and the band canceled the tour the next day.
