Queens of the Stone Age cancel Outside Lands set due to “injury”; Cage the Elephant joins lineup

Credit: Andreas Neumann Queens of the Stone Age have canceled their appearance at the upcoming Outside Lands festival in San Francisco. According to a statement from the festival, the band’s set, which had been scheduled for Saturday, August 12, was called off “due to injury.”

“Queens apologize for any inconvenience & we look forward to returning to the Bay Area at a later date,” the band adds.

To replace Josh Homme and company, Outside Lands has recruited Cage the Elephant to join the lineup. The festival, which also features headliners Metallica, The Who, Gorillaz and Lorde, takes place August 11-13 in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.

Hopefully, whatever injury has befallen Queens of the Stone Age heals by the time they kick off their tour in support of their forthcoming album, Villains, which will be released August 25. The trek begins September 6 in Port Chester, New York.
