Kid Rock says Senate run is “not a hoax”; shares pair of new songs

Kevin Mazur/WireImageKid Rock has confirmed that he’s running for the U.S. Senate in his home state of Michigan. In statement posted to his website, the rocker says that his campaign is “not a hoax.”

To accompany his run, Rock, born Robert Ritchie, will be releasing new music, starting with the tracks “Greatest Show on Earth” and “Po-Dunk,” both of which were released Friday.

“Like politicians write books during their campaigns, I’m planning on putting out music during mine,” Rock writes.

The musician also responded to incumbent Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow, who, in response to the initial news of Rock’s run, tweeted, “I know we both share a love of music. I concede he’s better at playing guitar and I’ll keep doing what I do best: fighting for Michigan.”

“Senator Stabenow and I do share a love of music, although probably not the same kind,” Rock writes. “I concede she is better at playing politics than I am so I’ll keep doing what I do best, which is being a voice for tax paying, hardworking AMERICANS and letting politicians like her know that We the People are sick and tired of their bulls***!”
