Now that Nikki Sixx is “unofficially retired” from touring, the Motley Crue and Sixx:A.M. bassist now has more time to explore other projects — like, for example, being a judge on a rebooted TV singing competition.
According to TMZ, producers for ABC’s reboot of American Idol are eyeing Sixx to be a judge on the show when it returns. Pop star Katy Perry has already signed on as a judge, and producers are reportedly pursuing Lionel Richie as well.
It’s worth noting that during American Idol season 8, Carrie Underwood’s version of Crue’s “Home Sweet Home” was used as the “exit” song, which was played as contestants were voted off each week. Carrie also performed the song on that season’s finale.
American Idol is slated to return in 2018 on ABC.
