“It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend, brother and inspiration,” the post reads. “Dave Rosser passed away peacefully last evening surrounded by love. Thank you to all who kept him in their hearts. He is forever in ours.”

Rosser joined Afghan Whigs in 2014, and played on both of the band’s post-reunion albums: 2014’s Do to the Beast and this year’s In Spades.

In 2016, Rosser was diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. That year, Afghan Whigs played three benefit shows to raise money for his medical expenses.
