BMGLars Ulrich writes the foreword to For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records, a book about the label that helped launch Metallica‘s career.
Written by Metal Blade founder Brian Slagel and author Mark Eglinton, For the Sake of Heaviness explores the label’s 35-year history, which started in 1982 with a compilation featuring fledgling bands from the local Los Angeles music scene, including the first-ever released recording from Metallica.
“I have been asked many times about doing a book about the history of Metal Blade and it just seemed like a cool thing to do to document the 35th anniversary,” says Slagel in a statement. “You never really stop to think about a lot of this stuff, so doing the book is a great way of looking back at how many awesome things have happened to me and Metal Blade.”
For the Sake of Heaviness will arrive on August 29.
