ABC/Randy HolmesThe day their new album is released is probably a pretty emotional one for bands, and Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, whose new record Evolve arrives today, is channeling that emotion in an open letter, thanking those who’ve supported him.
“Music is the only thing that speaks for me,” Reynolds writes in a note posted to Twitter. “It always has. I can explains myself finally when making a song.”
“It may sound corny to some, but I often find myself in tears after making a song that really gets me,” he continues. “I’m not crying because I think I’ve made some masterpiece. I’m crying because I feel expressed.”
Reynolds says that he knows not everyone will love Evolve. “I want to create a response,” he writes. “I want people to hear Evolve and love and hate it.”
Either way, Reynolds promises to “bring my full heart out on stage every night as we perform this record.”
“What a true blessing to be able to do that,” he says. “To sing along with you. Thank you.”
Imagine Dragons will kick off a North American tour in support of Evolve September 26 in Phoenix, Arizona.
