Nickelback will be “calling audibles all the time” during “Feed the Machine” tour

ABC/Tim OgierNickelback will kick off a North American headlining tour in support of their new album Feed the Machine this Friday, June 23 in Noblesville, Indiana. Armed with another album’s worth of material, the band hopes to do something new during the trek: switch up their set list during their shows.

“We used to really…get one set list, and we’d pretty much stick to it,” frontman Chad Kroeger tells ABC Radio.

Now, Nickelback’s more open to changing things up mid-set — provided they’ve had the right kind of, um, inspiration, that is.

“It sort of depends on how many Jager-bombs you’ve had throughout the show,” Kroeger laughs. “Now it’s like, we start just calling audibles all the time.”

“You gotta feel the crowd,” he adds. “When you can tell the crowd wants a little more rock, we’ll crank it up, we’ll get aggressive, and if you can see if they want some more singalongs, we’ll play those too.”

“We like to cater [to the fans],” Kroeger concludes. “We like to make sure everybody has a good time.”
