New Fall Out Boy single “Champion” arriving Thursday

ABC/Fred LeeFall Out Boy will offer a second taste of their forthcoming album Mania in the form of a new song called “Champion,” arriving this Thursday, June 22.

“I am a champion of the people that don’t believe in champions,” the band writes on Twitter. “Second wave of Mania is coming.”

Pete Wentz previously said that the new track reminded him of the ’80s children’s fantasy movie, The NeverEnding Story.

“Champion” follows “Young & Menace,” the first track Fall Out Boy released from Mania. “Young and Menace” certainly had a surprising sound, what with its EDM beat and odd vocal effects.  We’ll see how “Champion” compares to that one sonically, though Wentz has said that “Young and Menace” represents the “wildest part” of the album.

Mania will be released September 15. Fall Out Boy will begin a North American headlining tour in support of the album October 20 in Cleveland.
