Coldplay is UK’s most-played artist of 2016

Image Group LA/ABCColdplay was the most-played artist in the U.K. last year, according to the British music licensing company Phonographic Performance Ltd.

Chris Martin & company topped even Adele on the tally, who took the number two spot. The top 10 also includes include Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift.

As for individual songs, Coldplay’s “Hymn for the Weekend” and “Adventure of a Lifetime,” both cuts from the album A Head Full of Dreams, were among PPL’s most-played tracks of 2016. Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” topped that list.

The tallies were determined based on TV and radio airplay, as well as music usage in businesses such as pubs, restaurants, shops, offices and gyms.
