Originally released in August 2015 on Disturbed’s comeback album Immortalized, “The Sound of Silence” received its first platinum certification in June 2016. The video for the track has been viewed over 230 million times: a record for the band.

“The Sound of Silence” helped Disturbed reach a fan base outside the world of metal: it was used for a dance routine on Dancing with the Stars, and was the first one of the band’s tracks to be sent to Top 40 radio.

In addition, Paul Simon himself praised the cover, and Disturbed’s performance of “The Sound of Silence” on Conan was nominated for Best Rock Performance at the 2017 Grammys.
