Credit: Michael LavineLive will perform at Rocklahoma this Saturday in place of Soundgarden, who had been announced to headline the festival prior to the unexpected death of Chris Cornell.
“Although we all wish it were under different circumstances with regard to the passing of the incomparable Chris Cornell, Live is honored and excited to perform at Rocklahoma this weekend,” says frontman Ed Kowalczyk in a statement. “Chris and Soundgarden will forever inspire us and we’ll do our best to celebrate and express our sincere gratitude for everything they have given us with our concert.”
Rocklahoma will also stage a “brief tribute” to Cornell following Live’s performance. A portion of the proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, a charity organization Cornell founded with his wife to help children vulnerable to homelessness, poverty, abuse or neglect.
The Rocklahoma festival will be held May 26-28 in Pryor, Oklahoma.
