ABC/Randy Holmes; ABC/Randy HolmesTom Morello has shared a playlist of his favorite Chris Cornell performances in honor of his former band mate, who died last week at age 52.
The playlist, which you can check out via Morello’s YouTube, includes a few signature Cornell songs, including Soundgarden‘s “Outshined,” Audioslave‘s “Like a Stone,” and Temple of the Dog‘s “Hunger Strike,” plus a few deeper cuts.
“Made a list of some of my favorite Chris Cornell videos — from Soundgarden bada**ery, to epic Audioslave in Cuba, to acoustic duetting in a tiny Seattle night club,” Morello writes in an Instagram post. “Enjoy and keep Chris in your memory.”
The day following Cornell’s death, Morello wrote, “I am devastated and deeply saddened that you are gone dear friend but your unbridled rock power, delicate haunting melodies and the memory of your smile are with us forever.” He also wrote a poem in honor on his fallen band mate.
Morello played with Cornell in Audioslave, which also featured Rage Against the Machine‘s Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk. The supergroup released three albums between 2002 and 2006 before disbanding in 2007. Earlier this year, Audioslave reunited for a protest show on Inauguration Day.
