Evanescence plans orchestral, electronic new album, “Synthesis”

Credit: Michael WeintrobEvanescence has announced the details of their next album, and it appears Amy Lee and company will be exploring an entirely new direction. Speaking in a Facebook video, Lee says that the album, which is titled Synthesis, is “about orchestra and electronica.”

“We’re taking our music, stripping out the big distorted guitars, stripping out the rock drums, and replacing it with full orchestration and a completely synthetic world of beats and sounds,” she explains.

Synthesis will consist of older Evanescence material rebuilt from “the ground up” to include these new sounds, as well as two completely original compositions. In addition, the band will be bringing a full orchestra on the road later this year in support of the album, which is due out this fall.

Evanescence’s last album was their 2011 self-titled effort.
