Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready guests on track from his “favorite new band”

Kevin Mazur/WireImagePearl Jam‘s Mike McCready has lent his guitar chops to “Velvet Noose,” a new song from a local Seattle band called Thunderp***y. The newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded a solo for and produced the track, which you can download now on iTunes.

“Velvet Noose” will appear on the debut vinyl seven-inch from Thunderp***y, which will be released through McCready’s own HockeyTalkter Records.

“Thunderp***y is my favorite new band, and it was an honor to work with them on these songs,” McCready tells Rolling Stone. “‘Velvet Noose’ is an amazing and catchy rock song that deserves to be heard. Live, they have an incredible energy with amazing musicianship. All four women are as talented as they come.”

McCready will perform alongside Thunderp***y this Thursday, May 11, as a part of Seattle’s Upstream Music Fest.

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam recently released a cover of Brandi Carlile‘s song “Again Today,” which they recorded for the country singer’s benefit album Cover Stories: Brandi Carlile Celebrates 10 Years of The Story.
