ABC/Randy HolmesAt long last, Metallica will kick off their North American WorldWired stadium tour tonight in Baltimore. Speaking with 98 Rock Baltimore ahead of the show, drummer Lars Ulrich describes the production for the shows with words like “big” and “huge.”
“It’s colossal,” he adds.
Your Metallica experience on this tour will also be under the stars, as the band has “done away” with the roof as a part of their production. Ulrich also promises to “blow some s*** up,” “big video screens” and Metallica’s signature “snake pit,” a diamond-shaped structure that carves around a section of the crowd.
“We get out there and sort of play around people and really try to reach out to everybody the best we can,” he says.
Even while they’re playing to a stadium full of people, Ulrich says that Metallica still tries to keep their shows “as intimate as possible.”
“[We] try to get out there and grab everybody, and instead of it being us and them, that it’s all of us together, and we’re sharing this experience,” he says.
