Credit: Justin CampbellTaylor Momsen has had plenty of success with her band The Pretty Reckless, but she says she “thought about auditioning” for the lead singer spot in Stone Temple Pilots.
“Honestly, I freaked out the rest of the band,” Momsen tells Alternative Nation. “I called [bassist] Mark [Damon] and [drummer] Jamie [Perkins] and was like, ‘Yeah, so I’m gonna go sing for Stone Temple Pilots now and yeah, so we’re not touring anymore, sorry guys. This is it, my new gig.’ And they bought it for a while!”
Stone Temple Pilots announced they’d be searching for a new lead singer last year following Chester Bennington‘s departure from the band and the death of STP’s original frontman, Scott Weiland. The grunge rockers haven’t announced a new lead vocalist yet, but Momsen says she’s staying put with The Pretty Reckless.
“I like writing and playing my own songs,” she says. “I love Stone Temple Pilots, I think they’re fantastic…maybe one show I would sing their songs.”
The Pretty Reckless is currently on tour in support of their latest album, Who You Selling For.
