Members of Nickelback, Third Eye Blind remember resorting to sleeping on concrete and “crime” for concert tickets

ABC/Tim OgierLive Nation is offering $20 tickets all this week to a variety of summer tours, including Nickelback, Foreigner with Cheap Trick, and Third Eye Blind with Silversun Pickups.  The promotion has the artists just as excited as the fans.

“We go on tour, and we’ll be getting into town and some friend will be like, ‘Hey, I tried to get tickets but they’re $400.’ And I’m like, ‘Our tickets have never been $400!'” Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger laughs to ABC Radio. “We’re gonna have $20 tickets, I love that. I love that. So everybody can come, everybody can have a good night. One big sing-a-long.”

“Prices are going up all the time on everything and it’s good to give ’em a break,” adds Foreigner’s Mick Jones. “It’s a nice feeling. I feel that it’s fair, and the people are benefiting from it.”

Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins feels that the fans who will grab the $20 will help bring the “summer vibes.”

“I would say at Third Eye Blind shows, there’s no spectators, everybody’s a participant,” he says. “Everybody’s in it, and it’s this collective event. The kids who are gonna get those tickets, they bring something, they raise the vibe.”

Back when he couldn’t afford concert tickets, Jenkins used to sneak into shows — “I’m a big fan of crime,” he says — while Kroeger remembers sleeping on the concrete overnight to get tickets to a Judas Priest, Megadeth and Testament show.

“I think I still have hearing damage from that show, 100 per cent,” says Kroeger.
